New Years Gatherings and Beyond

If you are having a get together with your nearest and dearest for the New Years Eve and beyond celebrations, here are some of my canapĂ©s ideas for the occasion, the New year will see me doing more collaborations with others with an interest in food and health. To start things off, I have collaborated with Seyi from MoreThanOneLove where you'll find some great food and lifestyle blogposts. Seyi has created one of her alcohol free mocktails a pomegranate and ginger drink that is so delicious! to go with the canapĂ© ideas below, perfect if you are having guests who are t-total or you just want to start reducing your alcohol intake - getting you started on those New Year resolutions.  Let's get started...

The Menu Plan

Mini Puff Pastry Tarts: They can be filled with anything you like and are so easy its ridiculous! I used the Jusroll ready made pastry and cut out circles and squares using large cookie cutters. The filling you see here is both vegan and vegetarian, same filling of rainbow chard but the square ones  also contain cheese; ratatouille works really well in this also.

Vegan & Vegetarian

Chestnut and Chocolate Ganache: this desert is vegan! yes you heard me correct, and it freezes really well. A bit of coconut oil, some powdered sugar, cooked chestnuts pureed in the blender,  a splash of vanilla and some 75% dark chocolate boom! you can buy pre-made tart cups so you are not wasting time making those - beware these pre-made cases may not be vegan.
Vegan

Teriyaki Chicken Wings: marinade your chicken wings with the skin removed, a dressing of your choice I made teriyaki sauce, but really you could use anything you like either home made or store bought, scrape off most of the sauce before baking them in the oven. About 10 minutes before they are done pour the rest of the sauce over them.

Crinkle Cookies: lots of recipes for these nibbles knocking about on the web, mine had flavored  instant coffee powder in some and matcha powder in others. Go nuts and make some, everyone will love these.
Not vegan

Mini Gingerbread: I added extra ginger to the recipe I had, and baked the batter in mini cake molds - serve these with Greek yogurt or double cream.

Not Vegan

Ratatouille Vegan Pizza: This is super easy and tastes delicious, plus it's vegan and gluten free!

Vegan & Glutenfree

Healthy Truffles: Using this recipe

Vegan &  Glutenfree

Fresh fruit: Who doesn't like fresh fruit? No one ever, (okay maybe some folks) have a range of these on stand by - they always go down a treat.

Dipping Sauce for Fruits and Vegetable sticks: If you can' find Kaya use apricot jam

If all else fails, contact me for a mixed platter for your celebrations!

Till next time, EAT mindfully, DRINK responsibly, and EXERCISE your mind and body!!!
